A.Ron and Cecily discuss the latest episode of FX’s American Horror Story: Cult, “Valerie Solanis Died for Your Sins: Scumbag”. We discuss the proper use of colons, the history of Andy Warhol and the titular Valerie Solanis, the plot twist with the newly introduced Bebe, mourning for missed Russell Edgington opportunities, and Lena Dunham.
Cecily and A.Ron discuss the controversial “Mid-Western Assassin” episode of FX’s American Horror Story: Cult. We discuss gun violence, self-censoring same in reaction to increasingly common current events, and what, if any, lessons this episode is capable of teaching. Plus, A.Ron explains the difference between a twist, and a “twist”, and prays to Twisty for deliverance from evil clowns.
A.Ron and Cecily have seen the latest episode of FX’s American Horror Story, “Holes”, and aren’t sure if they’re talking about trypophobia or the plot. Good gravy we’re confused about when and how Meadow died exactly, when Ivy and Alley’s relationship dove into the crapper, and how steam rooms work in the real world. Also; we explain gaslighting in a one act play. Also, also; feedback! See you next week!
Cecily and A.Ron take in the sights and sounds of American Horror Story: Cult’s episode 704, “11/9”, where we begin to see Kai laying the foundation of his crazy empire/cult. A.Ron is deeply saddened to find out that, yeah, Ivy is probably in on this from the ground floor; Cecily is still in denial. We also talk about Boris Carolla, gym jerking etiquette, the swift conversion of members of Kai’s cult, and lots and lots of feedback. See you next week!
Cecily and A.Ron are here to spit fire about American Horror Story: Cult, “Neighbors from Hell”! We talk about the essential problem of the satire of this season, but how we’re managing to enjoy it anyway, as well as hot takes on sombreros, sexy book cases, and microwaved rodents. Those microwaved rodent takes? Especially HOT. All this plus just a tremendous amount of feedback… see you back here next week!
Cecily and A.Ron turn on the night lights and light up our organic beeswax candles for FX’s American Horror Story: Cult as we consider this week’s episode, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”. We discuss the new beekeeping neighbors, Winter’s very forward notion of relaxing Ally, and the importance of gun safety training for new terrified liberal gun owners, and much more. See you next week!
Jim and A.Ron consider some book-based speculation and theories from the latest episode of Game of Thrones! If you’re a show-only watcher who doesn’t want any spoilers, it’s best to just skip this one. Need to catch up? Here’s a Tinfoil SpoiLore archive of previous podcasts by topic. Each link has a time code listed so you can jump right to the tinfoil topic of the week for your convenience and listening pleasure.
Whoo boy, are we in for a season of FX’s American Horror Story, subtitled “Cult”. For A.Ron, it’s a little long on clowns and a little light on Cult, and Cecily wonders who or what is the focus of the social skewering going on in “Election Night”, the season premiere. It’s too early to tell a lot of things, like how seriously Murphy is taking all of this, if every clown or even any clown we see is real, and exactly how much screaming Evan Peters will be doing this year, but hey, we’re all here for the ride. See you next week!
In a bonus wrap up SpoiLore episode for Game of Thrones season 7, A.Ron is joined by Kim Renfro, Senior Culture Writer for INSIDER, to discuss our thoughts on season 7 as a whole, leaks, how production spoilers impacted our coverage of this season, and what we think about the far off season 8. Be warned, at the very end of the episode we do dish a bit on the last remaining unconfirmed leak for this season, which may come up next time. If you’re a serious spoiler-phobe, make sure you shut off the pod when we get to that point. If you need more Kim in your life, check out her podcast series, Showrunners, or follow her on Twitter. Our regular edition of SpoiLore will be out tomorrow!
Jim and A.Ron close the books on the non-book spoiler part of our season 7 coverage of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Of course, we’ll be back later this week to put the SpoilLore segment to bed, and don’t forget that starting next week we’ll be jumping head first into our rewatch of season 2, AKA the Tyrion Lannister Golden Years. But for now, we dive into a heaping helping of feedback trying to sum up the experience of this seasons, and looking ahead to next. Regardless of when it comes back, Summer of 2018 or Spring of 2019, we’ll right there with you as Game of Thrones heads towards it’s conclusion. Hope you stay with us through our season 2 coverage and beyond, as we look forward to tackling Stranger Things, Mr. Robot, The Walking Dead, and Westworld, to name just a few in the months ahead!
